Government Funded Rehabilitation (ZUS)

The application for government funded rehabilitation can be issued by any doctor. The person to whom the request relates, submits this to their local ZUS.

Government funded rehabilitation is available to:

  • Insured patients threatened with total or partial inability to work.
  • Persons receiving temporary disability benefits.
  • Persons entitled to sickness benefits or rehabilitation benefits after cessation health or accident insurance.

The application for the government funded rehabilitation can be issued by any doctor. The person to whom the request relates, submits it to their local ZUS.

If the ZUS doctor issues a decision to proceed with government funded rehabilitation, the person concerned receives the notification of referral to a rehabilitation centre.

The full costs of rehabilitation, including the costs of treatments, accommodation and meals are covered by ZUS.

All travel costs to the rehabilitation centre from the place of residence will be refunded to the amount of the cheapest ticket price on public transport.

The duration of medical rehabilitation

Rehabilitation in the rehabilitation center should last for 24 days. Although its duration may be extended or shortened by the senior consultant of the rehabilitation centre with the prior consent of the Spa department in the case of:

  • A positive prognosis for regaining the ability to work over an extended period of rehabilitation.
  • Earlier restoration of the ability to work.
  • The occurrence of other attributable reasons linked to the person sent for rehabilitation.

Currently, ZUS sends patients with motor organ diseases for stationary rehabilitation to the Szczawnica Spa S.A.

Spas does not take prior reservation. Places in sanatoriums are allocated by the receptionist. Reception is open from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm. In case of any additional questions regarding the arrival please contact the reception at PAPIERNIK Sanatorium or HUTNIK Sanatorium.
